![]() So unless you've reached late-game, you're not going to have enough skill points for everything. If this sounds broken, this is balanced out by the fact that sub-classes draw from the same skill point list as base skills. For example, one of your speedsters can become a legitimate healer via Enhancer because Enhancer has a passive that causes buffs to heal HP, and one of your speedsters has a buffing skill that can take advantage of that. There are obvious combinations (make the healer even better by making them a capital-H Healer) but there's some surprisingly nutty stuff too. There are also sub-classes that let you take the custom character builds further. Since there are skills that increase base stats, you get the same dynamic here, though sometimes re-spec'ing skills points can also be about ensuring specific characters have the specific skills they need There are also skill points and, similar to the level-up bonuses, these can also be re-spec'd with no drawbacks. Not every character can play every role, but sometimes you do want your attacker to be sturdier and other times it's better if they were more like a glass cannon You can re-spec that tank's bonuses from HP into ATK, for that one fight, and go back to using them as a tank for other fights. You might have this tank who is really good at tanking most fights, but maybe you're stuck on this boss because the only one who can target said bosses weakness is your tank. It's not an uncommon mechanic but what is unique here is that you can re-spec stats at any time and the game is balanced around you re-spec'ing certain characters. ![]() Some characters also have "skill activation on death" (one character can unlock the ability to heal the front row if they die) so frailer, lower level characters is another reason to level down certain characters. These basically let you fight bosses as the developers intended without worrying about over-leveling in dungeons (fighting at challenge level also massively increases the drop rate for boss loot, in case "pure challenge" isn't enough incentive for you). ![]() You want to do this because the game has "recommend challenge levels" for each boss.
